MapleLedger currently includes
This Privacy Policy covers two MapleLedger product areas:
- MapleLedger App, a local-first bookkeeping, expense submission, and record-keeping app
- Batch OCR, a separate cloud-assisted OCR workspace for bulk document review
MapleLedger App Privacy
The MapleLedger App is built to be local-first and trust-minimizing.
MapleLedger stores your financial records locally on your device by default. Core record-keeping features can be used offline.
Some optional features require an internet connection, including account sign-in, subscription verification, receipt scanning, rewarded ads, and purchase/restore flows.
You may choose to export or share your data to external services or locations.
The MapleLedger app does not store your financial records on MapleLedger servers as part of normal local-first app use.
When you export, share, or back up data, those copies are created from your device and sent only to the destination you choose. If you use a third-party storage or sharing service, that service processes the copy you decide to send.
App service information
To operate account-based app features, we may store limited service-related information. This service information does not include your local income, expenses, mileage, Expense Submission records, reimbursement history, receipt attachments, backups, or bookkeeping records.
We may also collect limited app activity telemetry, such as whether the app was opened on a given day, to measure daily active usage, anonymous usage, signed-in usage, and new install/account activity. This telemetry uses privacy-minimized server-side markers and daily aggregate counts. It does not include financial records, receipt images, OCR text, merchant names, amounts, categories, project data, attachments, backups, advertising IDs, device fingerprints, or raw install IDs in long-term telemetry storage.
- Account information such as email if you sign in
- Subscription status and purchase state
- Reward and referral data tied to your account
- Limited app and device data needed for security, support, and service operation
- Limited app activity telemetry used to measure daily active usage and estimate new anonymous installs and new signed-in users
App Analytics and Campaign Measurement
MapleLedger may use Firebase Analytics / Google Analytics for Firebase to record limited app interaction and conversion events, such as first-run flow progress, quick scan completion, setup completion, paywall views, and subscription start. These analytics events are used to understand app usage, improve reliability, and optimize Google Ads campaign quality.
Firebase / GA4 may collect SDK-managed app and device/app-instance data as part of analytics operation. Depending on platform and configuration, this may include a pseudonymous app-instance identifier, app lifecycle and interaction information, general location derived from network information, and App Store or Google Play subscription purchase metadata for MapleLedger plans, such as subscription product identifier, product name, price or value, and currency.
This store subscription metadata relates only to subscribing to MapleLedger plans. It does not include amounts, income, expenses, taxes, totals, or other values stored in users' bookkeeping records.
MapleLedger application code does not send receipt images, saved records, OCR text, amounts, merchant or vendor names, categories, notes, project or client names, attachments, exports, bookkeeping history, email addresses, Supabase identifiers, or RevenueCat identifiers to Firebase Analytics.
Supabase analytics remains MapleLedger's internal app-funnel measurement system. Firebase Analytics is used only for coarse campaign measurement and Google Ads optimization.
App receipt scanning
When you use app receipt scanning, the receipt image you selected may be processed by on-device or third-party services to extract text and prepare draft receipt fields for review. Optional category help is user-controlled and review-first.
This processing is used to provide the scanning feature. Scan results are assistive, and you should review them before saving.
The MapleLedger app does not store your receipts or extracted financial records on MapleLedger servers as part of normal local-first app use. App records are stored locally on your device unless you choose to export them.
App use of service information
We use app service information only to:
- Provide and maintain app features
- Verify subscriptions and restore purchases
- Run reward and referral features
- Process receipt scans and other features you request
- Display ads in the free version where available
- Protect against abuse and fraud
- Measure basic operational app usage and evaluate whether app installs lead to real MapleLedger activity
App third-party services
We use trusted third-party services for limited parts of the app:
- Supabase for authentication and related account features
- RevenueCat and app stores for Premium purchases and entitlement state
- Ad providers for free-version advertising
- Third-party or on-device processing services for receipt scanning and text extraction
App third-party service limits
These services may process limited data needed to perform their role, but they do not store your financial data on MapleLedger servers.
App advertising
MapleLedger may display advertisements to users on the free plan.
These advertisements are provided by third-party partners such as Google AdMob. These partners may collect limited technical information, including device identifiers, app interaction data, and general location information, to deliver and measure ads.
MapleLedger does not share your financial records, receipts, bookkeeping data, or expense submission data with advertising providers.
App storage, retention, and deletion
You control your local app data.
- You can delete records within the app at any time
- You can remove app data by clearing storage or uninstalling the app, depending on your device
- We do not retain app financial records, expense submission history, receipt attachments, or backups on MapleLedger servers as part of normal local-first app use
- Daily aggregate app activity counts may be retained for up to 2 years. Privacy-minimized first-seen markers may also be retained for up to 2 years to estimate new anonymous installs and new signed-in users. Short-term daily dedupe markers are retained for approximately 7 days.
- As a local-first application, you are responsible for managing your own backups and exported data
Batch OCR Privacy
Batch OCR is a separate cloud-assisted OCR workspace. It is designed to help you review many accounting documents and prepare editable rows before export.
Batch OCR is separate from the MapleLedger App local-first record storage model.
Batch OCR Processing
When you use Batch OCR, files or prepared OCR inputs you select may be uploaded or sent for OCR, extraction, segmentation, verification, or related processing needed to provide the Batch OCR feature.
Batch OCR processing may involve temporary cloud-based OCR or AI processing needed to provide the feature.
Batch OCR temporary file processing
Batch OCR may temporarily process uploaded images, rendered PDF page images, extracted text, OCR inputs, and related processing metadata to complete the OCR workflow, handle retries, prevent abuse, estimate or finalize usage, and support service operation.
Browser-local draft rows, file metadata, and Batch History may be stored locally in your browser as described in the Batch workspace.
Batch OCR providers
Batch OCR may use third-party OCR, AI, infrastructure, authentication, payment, or service providers to process the files or OCR inputs you submit and to operate Batch Scan Packs.
These providers may process limited data needed to perform their role. Batch OCR processing is separate from the MapleLedger App's local-first record storage model.
Batch OCR retention boundary
MapleLedger does not use Batch OCR as a long-term cloud archive for your financial records, receipts, bookkeeping history, or expense submission history.
MapleLedger may retain limited account, purchase, credit ledger, job, usage, security, abuse-prevention, diagnostic, or support metadata needed to operate Batch OCR and Batch Scan Packs. This metadata is separate from durable storage of your financial records.
After account deletion, MapleLedger may retain limited, non-reversible anti-abuse records, such as hashed identifiers, only to prevent fraud, referral reward abuse, payment, refund, dispute, or chargeback abuse, or repeated promotional credit abuse. These records are not user accounts and do not include financial records, receipts, backups, bookkeeping data, or expense submission data.
We do not sell data
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal or financial data.
Website analytics
We may use privacy-friendly website analytics, such as Vercel Web Analytics, to understand basic site usage such as page views, referrers, device/browser type, and approximate location.
This helps us improve the website and does not involve storing your financial records on MapleLedger servers.
Data Security
We take reasonable steps to protect the service, but you are responsible for securing your device, your account credentials, and any copies of your data that you export or back up.
Children's Privacy
MapleLedger is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Disclaimer
MapleLedger is a record-keeping tool and not tax, legal, or accounting advice. You are responsible for reviewing your financial data and making sure it fits your situation and local rules.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Continued use of the app means you accept the updated policy.
