How to Find and Check Your U.S. Travel History
Use these notes to help gather U.S. travel history, Canadian snowbird travel days, and U.S. stay days before reviewing the Substantial Presence Test summary.
Official I-94 travel history
Travelers can use the official CBP I-94 website at i94.cbp.dhs.gov/home to view recent U.S. arrival and departure travel history.
CBP and USA.gov describe I-94 travel history as covering the last 10 years where available. Manually copy dates from official records into this calculator if they are useful for your review.
Do not enter passport details into MapleLedger. This page does not collect passport information, import I-94 records, scrape I-94 data, automate login, or upload travel records.
Canadian snowbird note
Many Canadian snowbirds track U.S. days manually throughout the year. Most Canadian citizens visiting or transiting the U.S. may not need an I-94 form, but U.S. travel history may still be useful to review where available.
Cross-check personal records
Use more than one source when checking travel dates. Helpful records may include:
- Passport stamps
- Flight confirmations
- Hotel stays
- Credit card transactions
- Travel insurance records
- Calendar entries
- Toll or parking records
- Emails and receipts
Missing or inconsistent records
I-94 travel history may be incomplete or may not show every relevant trip. Do not rely only on one source. If records conflict, keep your own written travel log and supporting documents.
Suggested workflow
- Check I-94 travel history if available.
- Add each U.S. trip as a date range.
- Cross-check against personal records.
- Review the SPT and U.S. stay-days summary.
- Use your browser to save or print the results for personal reference.
Form 8840 and closer connection exception
Some non-U.S. individuals who meet the Substantial Presence Test formula may review IRS Form 8840 and the closer connection exception.
